Sasha is no longer singing about wanting a 'Natty' on her front-line, as she is now a Christian.

The singer was recently seen on a local television station advertising Gospel Explosion, a gospel concert which will be held on August 1 in St Ann.

When contacted, she confirmed that she was now a Christian.

"Yes, I am a Christian. Almost a year now," she told THE STAR, while noting that she was baptised at Bethel Tabernacle in St Ann.

"I grew up in the church and majority of my family are Christians. We are living in some serious times. I don't want to go on to another show and say anything that is not gonna give a man hope. I think everybody is aware of what is going on, but some people might not want to make the step because of fear," she said.

As a result of her new outlook on life, Sasha said she will not perform any of the songs that made her popular. She was known for songs like Natty On Mi Frontline and We Got The loove, which were done with her former lover, Turbulence, as well as a remake of Alton Ellis' I'm Still In Love, which she did with Sean Paul.

I have changed

"We have enough secular artistes that can sing about love. I have changed from what I used to do," Sasha said.

There are also changes in her appearance, as she now sports short twists and no visible makeup.

"I am going natural. It's just my way of telling God that I appreciate the way he made me and I am happy in my skin," Sasha told THE STAR.

As a Christian, Sasha now sings on the Beauty of Holiness Gospel Band, which she formed about three months ago. Since then, the band has performed mainly on the north coast. They also have a song called Surround Me. However, the band's first major appearance will be at Gospel Explosion.

Nonetheless, Sasha says there have been mixed reactions to her becoming a Christian.

"For those that believe in God, they are happy for me, some are motivated by the fact that I decided to make the step. You have some that are anti-Christ and ask why mi do this," 35-year-old Sasha told THE STAR.

"I am just happy with what I am doing now. I am just loving my family. I have more time to be with my children now," she said.
