Firebrand deejay Teflon, widely regarded as one of the most exciting new talents to emerge out of dancehall in the past two years, has been making waves with his new single, Jailhouse Rock. After premiering the video on cable TV a few weeks ago, the deejay has been aggressively pushing ahead with the promotion of his new single Jailhouse Rock which is already an insider sensation in the dancehall community. "The video for Jailhouse Rock is getting crazy reviews in the streets, the people love it, the effects, the storyline, the images and the delivery, it connects with the people," Teflon told Reggae Music Fm this week. Jailhouse Rock is Teflon's first release since his incarceration last year. The song is a critical examination of his recent legal troubles and speaks volumes about the deejay's brief incarceration and the dehumanizing and brutal conditions which prisoners face in Jamaican lockups. The video was shot on Gold Street, Kingston (South Side) on Wednesday 26th of November, 2008. It was directed by Wayne South. The video is currently on the 'Bubblers' section of the CVM TV' E-strip Hitlist. Teflon's fans can vote for the video by texting the number 7 to 444-2442. If you haven't seen it on the television yet, the video is also available on youtube. On the strength of the Jailhouse Rock single, Teflon has been added to Magnum Follow the Arrow 2k9 which will be held on James Bond Beach in St. Mary on February 28th. Many other stage show promoters have begun to take an interest. "As more and more people realize that he is here in Jamaica and available, the requests are flooding in. People are looking to Teflon as one of the artistes who will take reggae to higher heights internationally, especially in Europe where he has a loyal and still growing fan base," Tamoyo Campbell, a member of Teflon's management team, said. Teflon's debut album, Motherless Child, will be released this month end on the Tads International label which has already started street and media promotion of the album. "This is shaping up to be a breakout year for Teflon and by extension, for reggae music," Mr. Campbell said. |
